Shannon is a licensed massage therapist who has been in practice since 2008. Prior to massage therapy she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a clinical master's degree in addiction studies, both from the University of Cincinnati. For the past four years the focus of her work has been in hospital-based massage therapy and end-of-life care. She is currently the Senior Massage Therapist at the UC Health Blood Cancer Healing Center (BCHC), and member of the Osher Center for Integrative Health team at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to coming to the BCHC she was a member of the Integrative Care team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and holistic care hospice volunteer. Her prior work as an addiction counselor has encouraged a trauma-informed, whole person approach to care, which is why integrative health is so important to her. In addition to massage therapy, she provides Healing Touch, reflexology, acupressure massage, and mindfulness-based approaches, depending on the needs of the patient. She is a preferred practitioner with the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM), where she also sits on their Education Committee and is their Ohio Regional Champion, and is Board certified by NCBTMB.
