Licensed and practicing since 1996, in Florida. My personal life changed the trajectory of my professional life. After caregiving for my mother while she battled breast cancer twice, watching my father withstand the brutality of liver cancer and my husband getting run over by the lung cancer train, I found myself questioning everything. For the first time in my life, my massage practice wasn't enough. The grief was heavy, but more than anything I wanted to safely bring comfort to cancer patients, with massage. Clearly motivated by my past, I set out to learn more about oncology massage. When I got licensed, they told us to never touch a cancer patient. Intuitively, that registered as false information. So grateful that education and research proved otherwise. I've always been passionate about offering quality care, but oncology massage has magnified my desire and gratitude to serve. The positive outcomes in decreased pain, nausea, fatigue, anxiety and the overall improvement in the quality of life are the biggest motivators. I love this work and am humbled by the trust of our patients, on a daily basis.
