Xerlan Deery, LMT, BCTMB is a licensed and board certified massage therapist and educator with over 30 years experience working in hospitals, cancer centers, rehabilitation centers, university training rooms, backstage and in private practice. She worked with her first cancer patient at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1990. Since then she has consulted and assisted with the development of several other Hospital Based Massage Therapy Programs. She currently is a member of the Integrative Care Team at the Cancer Center of Paoli Hospital in Paoli, Pennsylvania which also has a Senior Oncology & LGBTQ Inclusive Care Program. Xerlan has the privilege providing massage therapy and bodywork to support humans for palliative care and pain management during chemotherapy, radiation, post-op and transitional care.

In her limited private practice, she balances clinical integrity with a holistic perspective, specializing in therapeutic massage and bodywork supporting medically involved humans including oncology massage for people in treatment, metastatic and active survivors; pain management, post-operative care, and prenatal massage.

Xerlan has a strong background in instruction and education. She owned and operated a massage school for 12 years, has taught programmatically for 16 years. She has been an Approved Education Provider by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork since 1992 and is also a Recognized Education Provider through S4OM. She teaches a 24 hour foundational course, several supplemental courses and other research informed continuing education classes through Anatriptic Alchemy at Paoli Hospital and Phoenixville Hospital in Pennsylvania, and other locations throughout the United States.

Xerlan has deep experience in volunteering with a wide variety of organizations; the Hospital Based Massage Network, Y-Me; The Breast Cancer Network of Strength, Young Survivors Coalition; Tour de Pink, Unite for Her, the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). Currently Xerlan is serving as the S4Om Regional Champion for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and is the Regional Champion Program Coordinator. She was honored to on the S4OM committee for the Specialty Certificate in Oncology Massage and continues to volunteer with NCBTMB.
